But the new version adds the 60 meter ham band and includes the formerly optional DPs-2 digital signal processing unit. The FT-857D is loaded with features. This radio works very well, with the only fault being that the volume control shaft is ever so slightly bent, easy to fix, just means that sometimes when you turn up the volume, you turn up the squelch also. It never made it into the rangier, however, it was used for a while in another car.

It is the successor to the earlier ft-857. It is modded to go everywhere, does all 4x4 frequencies, hf marine, that other band see pics and vhf marine. My FT-857D has had very little use, I purchased this radio and did the transmit mod with a view of making the ultimate radio for my range rover.
